私がオランダ人の彼と話す会話

これを耳にする人は大体が『？？』マークを浮かべることが多いようです

それもそのはずで

私たちは３ヶ国語を混ぜながら話している習慣があります

それぞれの割合はこんな感じ

• 英語 80%

• オランダ語 15%

• 日本語 5%

ほとんどの会話は英語がベースですが

会話のフレーズによってオランダ語や日本語を使い分けています

例えば…

私：『おはよう、ダーンさん』

彼：『オハヨッ』

私：『Did you lekker spaapie gedaan?』

彼：『Lekker slaapie gedaan.』

訳

私：『おはよう、ダーンさん』

彼：『オハヨウ』

私：『よく寝れた?』

彼：『よく寝れたー。』

他にも日本語にしかない表現やオランダ語にしかない表現、

言葉のイントネーションに特徴があるものはそのまま使っています

例えば…

日本語：

• いただきます🙏🏻

• ごちそうさま🙏🏻

• ほんとに！？😧

• すみません（すいません）🙁

• なんでぇ？！😩

• ありがとう🙏🏻

• 大丈夫👌🏻

• かわいい🥰

オランダ語：

• "eet smakelijk" ＝ ”召し上がれ”

• lekker + 動詞・形容詞　*lekkerの詳細についてはこちらをご覧ください

• 名詞 ＋ tje （名詞の語尾に『チェ』付け。基本的に”小さい物・子”、日本語で言う”ちゃん付け”のような感覚）

• 動詞（見る kijken、歩く lopen、買い物する shoppen、運動する sporten、遊ぶspelenなど）

こうやって書き上げてみると言語の切り替えが見えてきますが

会話そのものを直接聞いている人からすると

英語の会話文に急にオランダ語が入ってきたり

全く違うイントネーションの日本語が入ってきたりで

独自の言語を話しているように聞こえるそうです

この会話のスタイルは元々

オランダ語が話せなかった私に合わせて英語での会話がベースとなり

徐々にオランダ語が話せるようになってきた私と

日本語のイントネーションが面白く聞き真似で始まった彼で成り立ちました

お互いが言語を耳で覚えるタイプの人なので

私が話す日本語の会話や彼が話すオランダ語の会話を聞き入って

気になる単語やフレーズから覚え始めます

最近彼の中で流行っている言葉は

『ここどこ？』でして

聞こえが面白いのか

急に『ここどこ？』って聞いてきてそれに私が

『ここstation』、『ここhouse』とか答えるゲーム(?)です😂

一つの言葉に統一しようと思えばできる私たちの言語ですが

”いただきます🙏🏻 ” と ”ごちそうさま(です・でした)🙏🏻”は

これからもそのまま日本語で使い続けたい言葉の例です

言語を全て訳さずとも

元のその意味を理解してそのまま使うのも素敵なことだと考えます

Apparently, people tends to get『？？』above their head when it comes to listen to our conversation.

In fact that's understandable because we use 3 languages in our conversation.

In percentage as follow...

• English 80%

• Dutch 15%

• Japanese 5%

Our conversation is based on English, however depends on conversation scene it changes into Dutch and Japanese.

For example...

me：『Ohayo Daan-san*』

he：『Ohayo』

me：『Did you lekker* spaapie gedaan?』

he：『Lekker slaapie gedaan.』

*"san" stands for Mr/Mrs/Miss in Japanese and its gender neutral

Translation

me：『Good morning, Mr Daan』

he：『Good morning』

me：『Did you sleep well?』

he：『I slept well』

In addition, we use the origin language when it comes to unique intonation or meanings.

Such as…

Japanese：

• Itadakimasu🙏🏻 *

• Gochisousama deshita🙏🏻 *

• Honntoni！？😧 = really!?

• Sumimasen🙁 = excuse me

• Nande？！😩 = why?!

• Arigato🙏🏻 = thank you

• Daijyoubu👌🏻 /(Daijyoubu?) = I'm alright / Are you alright?

• kawaii = cute

*itadakimasu literally means “I am going to receive the lives of animals and plants for my own life”, and saying this phrase before eating is a way to express your understanding of how much was sacrificed to make the meal possible as well as to express appreciation for Mother Nature.

*Gochisosama deshita, or gochiso for a more casual setting, means “to make every effort for the guest.” There are subtleties within that meaning as well, because gochiso means “luxurious food” or “feast,” even when the meal has been simple.

Dutch：

• "eet smakelijk" ＝ "enjoy your meal"

• lekker + verb・adjective　**Find more use of "lekker" from here

• noun ＋ tje

• verb（kijken, lopen, shoppen, sporten, spelen etc...）

It looks more obvious when it's written like this however when it comes to listening actual conversation, you'll notice sudden use of Japanese and Dutch in English phrases. And that makes you feel as if we are speaking in whole different language.

Each of us learns language from listening. By listening to my Japanese conversation or me listening to his Dutch conversation, we tends to pick up words and phrases.

Lately the phrase "koko doko?" is in for him.

"koko doko?"means "Where are we?" Perhaps it sounds funny for him...

He asks me "koko doko?" out of sudden and I'm answering as "koko station." or "koko house" etc...😂 And that's quite kawaii to hear him saying "koko doko?" with big eyes👀 🥺

This conversation style started due to my poor knowledge of Dutch in beginning of our relationship. With my Dutch language improvement and his intrest on Japanese intonation brought it into such a flexible style.

Of course we can decide to use one language to communicate, although I rather see there is a fact of respect and beauty to its original language's meaning. Such as "Itadakimasu" and "Gochisousama-desita".
